The first evolution of this dinner series consists of three Mary Oliver Poems. To me, Mary Oliver is the easiest entry point into poetry. Reading her poetry transports us immediately into nature and recognizing the beauty and wonder that is all around us at any given moment. Then in the next breath we are turning over our own rocks and searching within our own hidden places.
Each course of the dinner features a different poem. Each poem is read in the round twice, and then the discussion begins.
Poetry has incredible way of giving voice to feelings we may be having a hard time articulating. Sometimes we need to listen to what someone else has to say about the experience of being human to unlock what is hovering beneath the surface.
